San Francsico Single Family
Mortgage Revenue Bond Program (SFMRB)
SFMRB provides first-mortgage loans to homebuyers in the City
of San Francisco on a first-come, first-served basis. The
loans will be fixed, 30 year FHA, VA, or conventional mortgage
rate at about 1/3 to 1/2% below the market rate.
Additional Mortgage Assistance is available with the loans
to qualified buyers.
Mortgage Assistance Program
SF Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) provides mortgage assistance
to subsidize those households whose income is sufficient to
qualify for the needed mortgage to purchase a property. The
lender determines whether a household needs mortgage
assistance by taking the purchase price less the actual down
payment to determine the needed mortgage amount. The lender
will then calculate the supportable mortgage of the household
using the established underwriting criteria. If this supportable
debt is less then the needed mortgage amount then the borrower
may be eligible for mortgage assistance of up to $400 per
month for the first year. The mortgage assistance provides
a subsidy to the borrower in the form of monthly financial
assistance
to pay on the borrower's first mortgage. The monthly financial
assistance decreases 5% every year until the borrower is paying
the full monthly payment. MOH will provide up to a maximum
of $4,800 in mortgage assistance for the first year.
Income Requirement
The total household income (including
the income of anyone 18 years or older who is both residing
in the property, responsible for the mortgage and/or any co-mortgagor
listed on title) cannot exceed $109,800
